On Saturday, January 9th, The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) and the University of Arizona hockey team hosted an event called Pucks for Paws.
The event was a huge hit, and we had an outstanding turnout! Not only were dogs welcome at the event (the “paws” part of Pucks for Paws!), but all proceeds from the “doggy tickets” sold were donated to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
Furthermore, the game itself was great! Luke, one of HSSA’s longest residents, was our Puck Dropper. His foster mom, Bailey, taught him to hold the puck on his head and then drop it off onto the ice. He did such a good job, and it was a real crowd-pleaser! We had many adoptable dogs walking around the stadium, and we even had one adoption! In the future, we hope to host many more events like this.
